In this earnest movie from Bulgaria, the minds of the young people attending a Young Pioneer (communist youth) camp in the 1950s are shown to be easily molded into a conformist vein. Later, at a "voluntary labor" camp in the 1960s, the final touches are put on their education as proper young communists.

Four friends and three girls spend a summer on a desolated beach, living in an abandoned hut.

Six year old Azad (a Kurd from Iraq) was engaged to his cousin Vian but after that the two kids were separated due to the political situation. At 19, Azad accidentally witnessed the murder of Vian's father and had to leave the country. On board the ship to Europe he met a beautiful girl and fell in love with her without recognizing that she was his fiancée Vian. Vian, on her part, did not reveal herself to him because she thought he had been involved in the murder of her father and she tried to suppress her feelings towards Azad.

This is a film about the fate of a group of students and their wondering to find their true place in life. Of course each of them tries to find his own way.

This is a film about the fight against the terrible invincible enemy - the banality of life. Chekhovian provincial hopelessness will creep in, broken by sharp turns of Chaplin-esque humor. A bow to silent cinema and Chekhov.

Sofia, the 90's. Emilia's colorful group of friends are portrayed in a series of separate but intertwined stories. On its own each story peers into the life of a single downtrodden person. Viewed as a whole, they portray a common struggle of coming to terms with the uncertain world these people live in, and how it all weighs on Emilia.
