After an unproductive year in a village in Kayseri, the young people of the village are devastated. The cold weather has damaged the fruit trees, and the rainless summer has reduced the harvest by more than half. Two young men from the village, Cemil and Osman, were thinking they wouldn't be able to marry their fiancées, Fatmagül and Şifa, when they heard that Ceylan, the daughter of Hüseyin, a Turkish immigrant in Germany, was coming to the village. Cemil and Osman made plans to marry Ceylan and move to Germany. However, there was another side to the coin—both of them were already engaged.
