Ivan Yakovych Franko was a Ukrainian poet, writer, social and literary critic, journalist, interpreter, economist, political activist, doctor of philosophy, ethnographer, the author of the first detective novels and modern poetry in the Ukrainian language.

The Rising Hawk

The series consists of ten films based on love and erotic works of Ukrainian literature from the middle of the 19th century to the present day. Ostriv lyubovi

The plot is based on real events described by Ivan Franko in a series of criminal reports for the newspaper "Kurjer Lwowski" in 1889. The writer used the motives of these events in the story "The Foundations of Society".
A Crime with Many Unknowns

Mykyta the Fox is the first Ukrainian animated series made in the country since it declared independence. The series is based on the eponymous satirical fairy tale in verse by Ivan Franko. The budget of the series amounted to UAH 10 million. A theatrical pre-release was held at Kinopalats in Kiev on 15 June 2007. The series premiered on TV in 2009 on Pershyi Natsionalnyi after it had been already released on DVD in 2008.
Mykyta the Fox

Cartoon based on the Ukrainian fairy tale of the same name by Ivan Franko. A fearsome beast arrived in the forest to impose its order in it and called Ostromysl. His formidable appearance frightened all the forest animals, and even Mikhail Potapych himself. When Ostromysl fell into the river and the paint was washed away by the water, the animals were convinced that it was just an ordinary fox. The rascal was chased out of the forest. The movie ends with Hedgehog's admonition: "Whatever the beast looks like, don't take his word for it!“

Stolen Happiness

This film is based on the classic novel of the same name by writer Ivan Franko, one of the most famous figures of Ukrainian literature. It is set during the 1200s and the invasion of the medieval Ukrainian-Russian state of Rus' by Chengis Khan's Golden Horde. Due to its having been produced during the Soviet era, the story's aspect of class-conflict between the "heroic" peasantry and the "decadent" noble particularly emphasized here.
Zakhar Berkut

The heroes of this film - Anna, Mikhailo and Mykola - are trying to find their happiness in difficult life circumstances. For this reason, Anton gave five years of his life to the service in Bosnia. Anelya solved this problem in her own way: in order to save the dignity and honor of her family, which she tarnished by participating in criminal cases, she committed suicide.
