Decades ago, they were stranded in St. Pauli, fleeing the narrow confines of the petty bourgeoisie in search of work and a different, more unconventional life. They made their way through life as dancers or strippers, landlords or barmaids, sailors or pimps. During the day, they meet in their favorite pubs, the "Hong Kong" or the "Kaffeepause", to reminisce about earlier times.

The “Dead Devils Death Bar” is a meeting place for various representatives of a newly-formed middle class, who drink and gossip. Their expectations of the place however, will remain unfulfilled, developing into a conspiratorial nightmare. In a single, continual tracking shot, the film narrates the course of one night, with only 9 actors playing the 26 bar patrons, as well as sometimes singing along with the sound-track.
