Kaali Ek Agnipariksha was a Hindi language crime fiction TV series. The show tackled the idea of physical violence and sexual harassment of women in India and is inspired from Ruchika Girhotra case.
Suraj, an honest press reporter, exposes corruption and fights for the common man. Politician J.B. Sinha pretends to serve the people but is actually a ruthless exploiter. When Suraj tries to expose him, Sinha joins hands with terrorist Singha and Inspector Waghmare, who murder Suraj and his wife and disguise it as suicide. Suraj’s sister Puja becomes a reporter in his place and vows to expose the conspiracy. Meanwhile, Sinha plans to seize Gandhi Nagar land for a lucrative deal with Bhandari, using Singha and Waghmare to terrorize and drive out its residents. Puja uncovers the entire plot, but before she can expose it, the three men rape and murder her. Four young men—Shiva, Raja, Mehboob and Neeraj—then decide to destroy the corrupt trio. They carry out their mission knowing they may die, and willingly accept the death penalty after eliminating the three criminals.

Inspector Suraj (Mithun) is successful in maintaining peace and order in his village and is hence promoted to the city to keep the Mafia under control. Suraj moves to the city along with her sister, Chanda. In the city he crosses path with dangerous underworld dons Dhapat Jackal and his brother Jacky Jackal. To teach Suraj a lesson, the duo rape his sister and kill his father. Will Suraj have to go againstthe law to get his family justice? Will he succeed in taking revenge? Will he bring peace in the city as he did in his village?
