Piotr is a psychiatrist. He is on night duty when a boy is brought to his ward. It is Kamil, the son he hasn't seen in years. The boy disappears from the hospital as quickly as he appeared. However, Piotr decides to get in touch with him. He invites him to his place and introduces him to his beautiful young fiancée. After Kamil's visit, the woman realizes that Piotr is a mystery to her and that she really knows nothing about him. And Piotr does indeed hide a dark secret...

But the difficulties of sorting himself out in the crooked boxing environment hold him back in the beginning, until he arrives for tournament in Chicago, where he can prove himself. In the end, he wins over his Yank opponent, an amateur below his ranking, and is back in the factory.

After her husband departs for a foreign scholarship, Bogna learns that her mother died. The trip to her hometown for the funeral becomes a voyage in time, during which she relives the memories of her idyllic childhood.

The life of Jan Himilsbach (1931-1988) - stonemason, docker, sailor, actor, screenwriter and writer - is a collection of anecdotes on the one hand, and a string of overwhelming events on the other. As a juvenile shoemaker he was sent to a reformatory, as a railroad thief - to prison, and as a laborer - to a quarry in the God's Gift mine. The film uses interviews with Jan Himilsbach, excerpts from films featuring him, the song "Happiness, Where Are You," for which he wrote the lyrics, and autobiographical novellas set in Minsk Mazowiecki.

Jastrzębie received municipal rights in 1963, but it is still a huge construction site. Children slide down the heaps of coal, located between the blocks of flats. Young women, dressed in worker jackets, look for their husbands. The life of the inhabitants is subordinated to communicates released by the council of the mine.
