Melodifestivalen (direct translation: The Melody Festival) is an annual music competition organised by Swedish public broadcaster Sveriges Television (SVT). The competition is a six part tour (5 heats + the final) with stops in cities across Sweden to determine the country's representative for the Eurovision Song Contest. Melodifestivalen is also known informally as "Mello", or internationally as "Melfest".

Morran and her son Tobias is two people at the fringes of society. For 34 years, croft 9: 4 had been their home and security, but now the property expropriated by the municipality of Trosa and stands gaping empty. When we meet Morran and Tobias again, they have sold a small piece of land to the municipality and had the opportunity to move back in a month's time. There are many emotions that torn up when the household goods will be extracted to the meeting with the old life in the house. Fredag Hela Veckan is a Swedish TV show on TV4, a Swedish version of Saturday Night Live. Among the famous Swedish comedians in the show, there were David Hellenius, Peter Magnusson and Christine Meltzer, stars from the prior Friday entertainment Hey Baberiba. Other cast members included Josephine Bornebusch, Mackan Edlund, Ulrika Kjällander, Ulf Kvensler and Andreas Nilsson. Kvensler hosted the in-show show Senaste Nytt, which is similar to SNL:s Weekend Update.

Tobias released from jail for embezzlement. Morran given a new house, but the land is contaminated. Cleanup grant given with a deadline.

After an incident with a hot air balloon burner, Morran and her son Tobias have reduced their home of 34 years to ashes. With a burnt out caravan in tow filled with sooty household goods they make their move to a new council house. Whilst Morran sees the opportunity for a fresh start, Tobias has lots of creative ideas about improving the house. But there is something about their new home that feels familiar, and through a series of fortuitous events the lopsided duo are once and for all forced to deal with the past.
