Continuation of the popular series of films about the assassins in Edo. This show marks the return of the jidaigeki series "Hissatsu Shigotonin," which has had several seasons between the 1970s and the 1990s. The franchise came back in 2007 with a one-shot special, but this is its first full season since 1992. Makoto Fujita returns as the protagonist Nakamura Mondo, one of the "shigotonin," a team of hired assassins.

Fictionalized account of 20-year-old Noriko Tsuji, a real-life victim of a severe birth defect which afflicted 8,000 Japanese, children whose mothers took the sedative thalidomide during pregnancy. Tsuji has stunted flipper-like arms amputated at the behest of a father who deserted her soon after her birth. Nonetheless, the resourceful Noriko uses her feet to accomplish most of the tasks others would do with their hands.

Shigotonin is a group of hired assassins to bring justice to those who were able to escape the long arm of the law. Noriyuki Higashiyama and Masahiro Matsuoka return from the 2009 special. Emi Wakui and Koki Tanaka are new in this TV movie.

The boss of thieves to whom Yaheiji obeys is killed, and Yaheiji participates in the battle to take his place Yataro helps him defeat and save his life, and Yaheiji also tries to save Yataro from the world of assassins... The drama "Dark Hunter" is based on the novel by Shotaro Ikenami, who is best known for his TV series Onihei Hankacho, Kenkaku Shobai and Fujieda Baian's Shikake-nin. The film version directed by Hideo Gosha is well known, but this version is more faithful to the original.

Ryuji Hoshikawa (played by Ken'ichi Endô), the leader of the Hoshikawa group and an executive of the Saito group, a branch of the Asahikawa Sekine Association, grew increasingly distrustful of the group's leader, Shigezo Saito (played by Johnny Okura), after being removed from his role as acting head of the Saito group. As a result, he abandoned his parent organization and his family, ultimately accepting the ceremonial sake cup from Tetsuya Kishimori (played by Kentaro Shimizu), the leader of the Kishimori group, which belongs to the massive Kinjokai organization based in the Kanto region.
