Biography
Penny Bouska is a director and assistant professor at the Department of Film, School of Fine Arts, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Her field of expertise is film directing, while her research field extends to the interdisciplinary study of psychoanalytic theory and film. She has a PhD in film entitled The Unfamiliar – A Psychoanalytic Study in Film (2016) and is supervised by Antoinette Angelidis. She has a postgraduate degree from the Sorbonne Nouvelle – Paris 3, in France and is the first graduate of the Department of Film, Thessaloniki. She has been a scholar of the State Scholarships Foundation (IKY), for doctoral, postgraduate and undergraduate studies, as well as a Varkas Excellence Scholarship. She speaks three languages, French and English, as a native speaker. She has made a feature film entitled Common Ground (2017), short films and documentaries. She specializes in experimental cinema. She has participated in various festivals with some distinctions. She has published scientific articles and has participated in volumes, most notably the book ReFocus: The Films of Antoinetta Angelidi (2022), which she co-edited and was published by Edinburgh University Press.
