In Nazi-occupied France during World War II, a group of Jewish-American soldiers known as "The Basterds" are chosen specifically to spread fear throughout the Third Reich by scalping and brutally killing Nazis. The Basterds, lead by Lt. Aldo Raine soon cross paths with a French-Jewish teenage girl who runs a movie theater in Paris which is targeted by the soldiers.

Germany in the near future: the economic situation has deteriorated dramatically, the social mood is simmering and the political camps are becoming more radicalized. Chaotic conditions are driving people onto the barricades and into the arms of the extreme right-wing DNS party, which is planning to secede economically and socially from individual federal states. To prevent this nightmare, the federal government sees only one option: to secretly build up the leading candidate of the opposing left-wing party.

Like the sound of the reeds when the wind drives in and makes its stalks billow - that's exactly how it feels for Pia, who loves her brother Lukas. She spends a day with him at the lake. Lukas, however, knows nothing of her love. He begins to suspect what is going on inside his sister. But then his new girlfriend comes along - his first great love...
