Biography
Carlos Leiva, born on April 3, 1986, in Santiago, Chile, is a director and screenwriter known for his work in both short and feature films. His portfolio includes short films such as "El hijo" (2008), "Ambiente Familiar" (2010), "El 10" (2011), and "Hambre" (2013), as well as feature films like "El primero de la Familia" (2016, Best Director at Sanfic) and "Todos Somos Justos" (2024). In 2011, he founded Avispa Cine, an independent production company focused on author driven films. Since 2017, Carlos has been teaching cinema at various universities, where he lectures on Film Direction. Additionally, he holds a Doctorate in Literature from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile and serves as an Associate Researcher at UDP. This background allows him to approach his academic and creative work from an interdisciplinary standpoint, blending literature and cinema.
