Panji is a kind young man who runs an orphanage. He met Nadia, a journalist, when Panji tried to help Nadia who wanted to commit suicide. The two of them became close and Panji offered Nadia to stay with him at the orphanage. The story follows Panji's life as a newfound superhero after he crosses paths with Professor Adam who hides his colleague's latest creation from Donclo, an eccentric villain who pursues a bad intention.

Medical student Rendra return to his hometown to take care of his father’s inheritance and discovers that the villagers are disturbed by wandering ghosts. The police investigate and uncover that the ghosts are humans in disguise... except for one “kuntilanak” (a traditional female ghost), a vengeful spirit who had been burned to death in an empty house.

Using a compass, he proves that the direction of Qibla (that points to Mecca), in the Great Mosque of Kauman is wrong. The discovery angers every Kyai (Islamic experts), especially the head of the Great Mosque of Kauman, Kyai Penghulu Cholil Kamaludiningrat. Dahlan, who studied in Mecca for five years, is seen as a rebel upstart. Since the proposal of changing the direction of Qibla is rejected, Dahlan starts a movement calling for the change. On his first sermon as a preacher, Dahlan criticizes the habits of residents in his village in Yogyakarta: "In a prayer, only a sincere and patient heart is needed, it requires no Kyais, money, let alone offerings". As a result, Dahlan gets a hostile reception.

Doni, who is narcissistic and anti-commitment, must get married immediately at his mother's request. After holding unsuccessful auditions to find a future wife, he accidentally meet Gysta. It turns out that Gysta is the daughter of Mrs. Broto, a childhood friend of Doni's mother. Doni and Gysta learn that they were betrothed when they were young and accept to marry.

Wamena is a businessman and widower who has a daughter, Narita. His secretary, Yuni, tries to marry Wamena and also tries to match Narita to Toni, who is actually Yuni’s boyfriend. Together, they plan to seize Wamena’s wealth. Alas, Narita already has a boyfriend, Arman, a poor young man. Yuni tries to manipulate the relationship by sending a fake wedding invitation. This causes Wamena a heart attack, which kills him. Narita is also against her father’s relationship with Yuni, so she storms out and leaves. Then Arman marries Narita and becomes the director of the company. Yuni and Toni resign from the company. Then Yuni tries to trick Arman by sending a pretty woman to seduce him and then takes a photo of them together. With this photo, she manages to trap Arman.
