Triumph in the Skies is about the daily lives of the staff, working under Solar Airways (a fictional airline based on Hong Kong's Cathay Pacific). It has been compared to the now-cancelled NBC series LAX. It sparked an interest in aviation when first aired amongst Hong Kong viewers, as well as an interest in a small doll named "Triangel" featured early on in the series.

After getting released from jail, Law Lik-ah wants to start anew, so he partners up with his comrade Kris Wong Sze-fu to fight against injustice. Lik-ah and Kris soon become the heroes of Sham Shui Po but their personalities conflict and they constantly disagree with each other. In the meantime, they have offended the wealthy property developer by handling a building collapse case and Lik-ah's life is in danger. Will they be able to find justice for the disadvantaged citizens in Sham Shui Po?

The drama is told in three separate folklore stories about love, lust, vanity, greed and selfishness. {Changing Pins} - Male and female fraternal twins fall in love with different men with the same appearance. The older male twin has an homosexual affair with a Prince of the Liao Kingdom, while the female twin falls in love with a poor scholar. {Judge Lu} - A poor scholar has an affair with a courtesan that resembles his wife. {Chasing Fish} - A scholar becomes the object of affection to a fish spirit and human girl with the face.

Triumph in the Skies II takes place a few years after airline pilot captain Sam (Francis Ng) marries Zoe (Myolie Wu), a passenger service agent who was born with a severe heart condition. When Zoe dies, the introverted and mournful Sam resigns his position as pilot captain and spends a long vacation in England. There, he meets the heartbroken student pilot Holly (Fala Chen), who convinces him to return to Hong Kong to join Skylette Airlines.

Cho Tsing and her mother Cho Cho Bi Yue are itinerant beauticians wandering the country in search of Cho Tsing's missing father. In the course of their wanderings, Cho Tsing falls in love with Tsin Tung and the two become husband and wife. San Cha has been Tsin Tung's personal maid since childhood, and the two have an understanding that ignites Cho Tsing's jealousy. The series revolves around a group of six women: Siu-Sze, Julie, Akina, Yuen Chau, Jenny, and Cyndi, with regular flashbacks to their secondary school days in mid-1980s Hong Kong.

Ling Lai-Ying and her husband Wong Wing-Ching have worked hard to develop their modest tea restaurant into an entrepreneurial success involving real estate investing and business. Lai-Ying’s younger brother Ling Shing-Fung even tries to help them get the company listed on the stock market. Initially, Wing-Ching does not agree with this. After seeing the century-old family print business run by his benefactor Hui Nga-Lun, who helped him get acquitted of a charge years ago, on the verge of bankruptcy, Wing-Ching agrees to Shing-Fung’s proposal by merging the two families’ businesses for mutual benefit. When a secret police operation fails, sniper Lee Ho-yeung develops a personal grudge towards his co-worker Ko Chun-kin. Ho-yeung eventually decides to leave the police force and becomes the president of a firearms association, colluding with organized crime on the sky. Through abusing the trust of an unknowing detective and the trust of his girlfriend who still works with the police unit, Ho-yeung has secretly been working against Chun-kin, who has been kept in the dark the whole time. But when Chun-kin starts to suspect the clues within multiple murder cases, a tense standoff between the brothers unfolds.

Once married into wealth but now debt-ridden, Lee Mung-Lu returns to Hong Kong from Malaysia to seek refuge with her niece Lee Lok-Yee. They are poles apart, often bickering. By chance, Mung-Lu learns that the fruit market owned by her elder brother was seized by Fung Tai-Kin and his nephew Fung Bo. She seeks to reclaim the property by hook or by crook but ends up in hilarious chaos.

Tsoi-shan’s younger brother Yau Tsoi-fung and his wife Cheung Pik-chi, and Ngai-yau’s elder cousin sister Ip Fan and her husband Kwan Chi-chung are faced with contradictions and hurdles with regards to raising children. In the process, children are invariably proved to be the key for parents to seize opportunities for life-long learning and maturation.
