Péter Gerõ

Adapted from István Csurka's play of the same name. Four men often get together in the evenings to play poker, big money is lost, often without any collateral. During heated arguments, it becomes clear during the break between playing cards that these people once had the opportunity to live differently. They were talented, but now they are neither on the right nor the left, and in their own words, they live in nihilism.

Gruber is a normal 16-year-old growing up in Budapest in 1962, but he has a problem -- how does he get to know the opposite sex? At the Sunday afternoon dance classes the young "ladies and gentlemen" hold each other while dancing, and that makes the lessons worth something. Otherwise, the pianist's attention wanders and the orchestra does not exactly play with a single-minded dedication. In fact, everybody seems to have other things on their minds, except for the enthusiastic dance instructor and his ever-smiling assistant.

Péter Gerő's unfinished portrait film of cinematographer-filmmaker György Fehér. The "film torso" (as the director calls it), which is shorter than 40 minutes, features such prominent figures from the history of Hungarian film and television as theatre and television film specialist István Lénárt, film director Károly Makk, film aesthete Yvette Bíró, and organiser László Béla. Also includes many unforgettable anecdotes and photographs of György Fehér from the time.
