Despite being at a respectable job of Village Administrative Officer (VAO), Chinnasamy, an enterprising youngster from an oppressed class has still been called by the upper caste people to perform the death rituals. However, the problem arises when he refrains to perform the last rites for a village elder.

The film deals with the conflict between a young man and his father; while the latter wants him to take up farming, the guy wishes to work in a bar!

The story begins in 1970 in the Kodai hills, Madurai. A total of eight employers are managing eight tea estates. An 18-year-old girl named Azhagu, who lives in a tea plantation village called Edakadu, sets up a small hut in her village to give lessons to children.One day a teacher named Selvam comes to teach children but ends up misbehaving with Azhagu. What follows next is a series of unfortunate incidents that lead to the death of Selvam. Will the police be able to find the killer?
