Spanning 20 years, from 1990 to 2010, the series tells of three entrepreneurs who founded a company together to achieve the ultimate goal of developing a pollution-free town in Hong Kong. Through the years, they face many struggles, but most particularly, the family vendetta between two of the company founders.

Former friends Kwok Pak-fei, Keung Hei-man, and Lau Lik reunite years after a botched operation led to a tragic death and estrangement. Now, a gruesome murder case tied to a human trafficking ring forces them to work together. As they investigate, mysterious messages appear with clues about the crimes, hinting at knowledge from the future. Together, they form a special unit, ASIB, to decode these messages and solve the chilling case.

A Step into the Past is a 2001 Hong Kong television series produced by TVB and based on Huang Yi's novel of the same Chinese title. The series tells the story of a 21st-century Hong Kong VIPPU officer who travels back in time to the Warring States period of ancient China. He is involved in a number of important historical events that leads to the first unification of China under the Qin Dynasty. The series' first original broadcast ran from 15 October to 7 December 2001 on the TVB Jade network in Hong Kong.

Barrister JJ Kam (Michael Tse) and Director of Public Prosecutions Chris Fong (Tavia Yeung) used to be cohabiting lovers, but ended up separating due to a failed marriage proposal. A renowned Chinese medicine practitioner Cheung Si-Sung passed on his Chinese medicine shop to his son Wai-On after his wife died. Wai-On did not take good care of the shop and it lost its customers. Si-Sung’s grandson Yee-Fai works for a large Chinese medicine company. His enthusiasm attracts his colleague Sin-Yu, who does not want to work under her rich father. Yee-Fai goes to Shanghai on business, and while there, he looks for an old friend of Si-Sung’s. Sin-Yu goes along with him as his secretary, and volunteers to help him fulfil his grandfather’s wish. Later, Yee-Fai meets Chinese medicine practitioner Geung Sum-Yu and Gook Yut-Siu. As Yee-Fai gets to know Yut-Siu better, they eventually work together in the medicine business.
