For six hundred years Sweden had controlled most of Finland until the war with Russia that ended in 1809, when Finland became a Grand Duchy of the Russian Czar. This period drama is set during that early 19th-century war and focuses on one of its heroes, Sven Tuuva. Sven is a decent yet not too brilliant soldier, and his exploits are partly balanced here by the charms of a compatriot.

Esa is a small time crook who has been precisely released from prison. He starts to make money by mugging people. One day psychiatrist Lindström rings Esa's doorbell. He has a very strange request: he wants Esa to maltreat him. Esa accepts this request, but he is not aware of Lindström's bad intentions.

A sequel to Soinio's film Kuutamosonaatti (Moonlight Sonata) of 1988. A rural family clings to life until the resourceful Sulo uses the salvific powers of sauna, moonshine, and tar to resurrect his injured brother Arvo, their deceased mother, and even buried revolutionaries. When Arvo drifts to Helsinki and falls into illicit moonshining and wild pursuits of a celebrity, Sulo and their revived mother set out to retrieve him from his urban excesses.

Täällä Pohjantähden alla is based on the book with the same title. It is a story of the little village. The movie starts in the 1890's and it ends to the Finnish civil war in 1918. Story concentrates around a tenant farmer family, although it gives us a good look at the society at whole. While the class struggle depends, people of the village are driven to bloody civil war.

A young man arrives in the village. He becomes a miller and delights the girls in the village, which evokes bitterness in others. He is subject to moralistic criticism, even though he is in fact only in love with the tailor's daughter.

Captain Routa has to teach a civil defense class to the girls at a boarding school. He accidentally wanders into the shower room and tries to get out disguised as a cleaner, but ends up in the same bed as gymnastics teacher Marjatta. Private Pöntinen, who is dating the boarding school cook, has a blast when he gets his hands on Captain Routa's uniform.

Masochists are in for a treat when Spede Productions' most vulgar folk farce hits the screen. Created by no fewer than three first-time directors, the film tells the story of the village of Pölhölä, "where people are even more foolish than in Hölmölä."

Esko is going to a neighboring village to marry Kreeta after her father arranged the marriage with Esko's father. Esko takes Mikko as his travel companion and that's where Esko's ordeals begin.
