A first-hand account of the perilous journey made by a group of Syrian refugees. Traversing land and sea on an old fishing boat manned by smugglers, the nail-biting journey leads to Europe where the refugees disperse. Each must battle to stay sane and create an identity among the maze of regulations and refugee hostels. The Crossing shows us the lengths to which people go to find safety and forge their own destiny.

As a conceptual artist, Maxime likes to talk about his inspirations. Hanging on to her interview plan, a journalist persists in bringing him back to the Syria he fled. She wants him to be a martyr, causing pity. Embarrassed, but dignified, he answers her tit for tat.

This short film highlights the difficulties of communication between two people from to different cultures and with different memories. The love between a Syrian girl and a European guy isn’t strong enough to transcend the differences between them.

Zena is a young woman who faces painful childhood memories after the death of her father. She sets out to find liberation and acceptance from this torturous time in her life.
