Biography
Christina Georgiou (PhD) is an award-winning composer, screenwriter and producer, Berlinale Talents Alumna, Member of the European Film Academy and adjunct faculty at the University of Nicosia and the University of Cyprus, teaching screenwriting and sound production for film. She is a graduate of King's College and City University London, and has also received training in programs organized by the EFA, Midpoint Institute, Mediterranean Film Institute, ERT, the Lithuanian Academy of Arts, the London Screenwriters Festival and Transmedia Next. Christina has also served as Artistic Director of the Children and Youth Section of the Cyprus Film Days International Festival. With more than forty projects under her belt, Christina has contributed to acclaimed shorts, features and TV series and has received, among others, the Best Soundtrack Award at the Monaco International Film Festival in 2008 and the Big Audiovisual Award at the Micrografi Competition in 2014. In 2019 she was voted Musician of the Year by the MFA in Cyprus. As the CEO of Blunatic Pictures, Christina also produced a number of shorts and features, including the Greek/Cyprus/Albanian co-production Holy Boom (2018). In 2021, Christina completed her debut documentary feature, which she directed and produced, titled The Stray Story: A dogumentary. The film, which was shot in Cyprus, Greece, Romania, Florida and the U.K., with the support of the Independent Productions Program of the Cultural Services of Cyprus, received thirteen international awards, has been approved for school screenings by the Ministry of Education and Culture of Cyprus and is available on major streaming platforms.
