The Skipper is appointed chief of the newly organized Toonerville fire department and runs it with the same thoroughness and love of his job that characterizes his remarkably efficient control of his trolley car. There are great doings in town the first day the company parades, but the real excitement starts when an honest-to-goodness fire wakes up the town. The skipper, his book of rules under his arm, sees to it that every- thing is done according to the best authorities, even if they fail to put out the fire until the house is almost destroyed. When the engine does get to pumping it drenches everything in sight, which includes nearly every man, woman and child in the place.
The doctor prescribes a relaxing day at the beach for Mr. Bang, who is overstressed. But the beach is anything but relaxing.
Mickey and the gang get ready for a big game of football. But Stinky Davis has a few tricks up his sleeve to stop the gang from winning. Special guest star USC coach Howard Jones.
One of the last silent shorts in the series. Stinky invites Mickey and company to his rodeo. Plenty of lassoing, horse riding, and even a head-butting contest between Hambone and a goat!
After hearing about his powerful raisin cider, Cynthia Snoop takes it upon herself to ensnare The Skipper. Meanwhile Katrinka accidentally ruins the Spriggins' tea party when she inadvertently breaks a water pipe when trying to kill a mouse.
Short comedy
Depicts a day in the life of Toonerville, featuring slapstick scenes in Bang’s Quick Service Restaurant, surreptitious drinking despite prohibition, and an evil villain trying to trade a mortgage for marriage to a beautiful young girl.
A bantamweight boxer has moved to Toonerville with his sissy-looking but well-trained son. When he gets into a dispute with Mickey Maguire, nothing will settle the matter but a meeting in the squared ring.
The skipper advertises an auction by tacking up bills on every convenient spot while making a run from the depot and stopping every few feet, to the disgust of the passengers.
Aunt Eppie Hogg takes a ride on the trolley and gets a cinder in her eye. While The Skipper tries to remove it, Cynthia Snoop thinks that he's cheating on Matildy.
The second short from the "Mickey McGuire" film series. The series was based on Fontaine Fox's popular comic strip "Toonerville Trolley". "Mickey McGuire" was a popular rival to Hal Roach's Our Gang series. Perhaps the most notable note about the series is that it launched Mickey Rooney's film career. The film follows Mickey McGuire (Rooney) and his pals as they start a "Pet Xchange".
Mickey Rooney -- credited as McGuire, as he would be through the run of the series -- inducts a new member into the gang, tries to put little brother Billy Barty to bed for a nap, and wins a basketball game against Stinky Davis' team in this episode of the series.
It's the first day back at school for Mickey and the gang, which means plenty of pain for the schoolteacher. But things really heat up when a fire breaks out in the schoolhouse.
In order to pay back Stinky Davis, Mickey becomes an organ grinder, and later put on a minstrel show.
