The film documents one of the largest Indian religious fairs, the Kumbh Mela, which is held at the confluence of the rivers Ganges, Yamuna and Saraswati. The action is seen through the eyes of Shubhendu Chatterjee who has come to the Mela not out of any religious sentiment but to see and understand people and seek the reason why “….multitudes upon multitudes of the old and weak and the young and frail enter without hesitation or complaint upon such incredible journeys and endure the resultant miseries without repining.” (Mark Twain after visiting the 1895 Mela)

Ek Mutho Chabi is a Bengali feature-film released in September 2005. As the name suggests, the movie does not tell one continuous story over 90 minutes; rather it's a compilation of six different stories combined together, all of around 20–25 minutes duration. Inspector Ashok Sharma is assigned to take over as Inspector In-Charge of a remote police station, which he does. However, she is to keep mum about the entire conspiracy, lest they kill her only daughter. Somnath gives assurance to Karuna to speak the truth. She does that and, in the end, the entire gangster network is caught. Karuna’s daughter is proved to be Somnath’s daughter. They get together again.
