Biography
Sergio Vega (born August 25, 1970) is an American musician. He is the bassist of post-hardcore band Quicksand, former bassist of alternative metal band Deftones, and a solo artist. Sergio Vega has been a member of Quicksand since 1990 and appears on all releases including Slip (1993) and Manic Compression (1995). He began playing with Deftones in 2009, replacing Chi Cheng . He has appeared on four albums with Deftones: Diamond Eyes (2010), Koi No Yokan (2012), Gore (2016) and Ohms (2020) until departing the band in early 2021. Deftones are an American alternative metal band from Sacramento, California, founded in 1988. The band consists of Chino Moreno (lead vocals and guitar), Stephen Carpenter (guitar), Chi Cheng (bass), Frank Delgado (keyboards and turntables), and Abe Cunningham (drums and percussion). Since 2009, Sergio Vega has been standing in on bass while Cheng recovers from a car accident. They have released six albums to date, with three Platinum (Adrenaline, White Pony, Around the Fur) and one Gold certification (for the self-titled album).

A concert film with crowd-sourced footage honouring Deftones’ last live performance before the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, recorded at Petco Park in San Diego, California on November 2, 2019 during the second annual "Dia De Los Deftones" festival. Created by and uploaded to the YouTube channel DeftonesLive on November 2, 2021 in collaboration with editor DVDuring, the film was a passion project comprised of roughly 560 fan submitted smartphone videos taking inspiration from the 2006 Beastie Boys concert film "Awesome; I Fuckin' Shot That!".
