El show de las 12 is a Puerto Rican midday variety television series airing on WKAQ-TV, and later on the nationwide Telemundo network, and hosted by Eddie Miro for most of its run. It aired every week-day for 40 years until its cancellation on February 25, 2005.

This documentary analyzes the origins of the Puerto Rican economic development plan of the 1960’s, better known as Manos a la Obra (or Operation Bootstrap). The film examines this economic plan within the framework of Puerto Rican society, with special emphasis on the mass migration of Puerto Ricans to the mainland.

Returning to Puerto Rico after living abroad for a long time, Paco, out of work, meets successful Nicolás, an old friend from his college years. Nicolás invites him to his house, where Paco meets a woman from his past.

When a cheerful vagabond discovers a purse, the money and love letter inside make for interesting complications in his life.
