The Berlin Philharmonic brings in the New Year with a festive concert featuring performances of music by Gershwin, Bernstein, Porter & Loewe.

Dutch conductor Bernard Haitink and the Berliner Philharmoniker meet at this year’s Easter Festival in Baden-Baden. Haitink is regarded as an authority, especially on the music of Beethoven. In this production he conducts Beethoven’s Symphony No. 6, the “Pastoral”. For the Violin Concerto multi-awarded Isabelle Faust is taken to the stage with him. Since her recordings with Claudio Abbado, she is the first choice when it comes to this masterpiece. This release has been chosen for the longlist of the renowned German award 'Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik'.

For 26 years now, this group of young musicians from all over the European Union has been delighting audiences at the Young Euro Classic festival. It's a project that illustrates the vitality of our continent's musical life. In the first half of the evening, Spanish cellist Pablo Ferrández performs Shostakovich's Cello Concerto No. 1.

A concert featuring Andalusia and Russia, with Isaac Albéniz's Iberia and Stravinsky's The Rite of Spring. A seminal work from the previous century that is more topical than ever, with a new work by Fabià Santkovsky, under the bow of Francisco Fullana. An opportunity for the musicians of the Spanish National Youth Orchestra to express all their talent under the baton of Nuno Coelho.

David’s recently released new classical album “Legacy” with the Royal Philharmonic Orchester has hit the charts. In May 2011 he performed the Beethoven-Concerto and works by Fritz Kreisler with the National Philharmonic of Russia under the conductorship of Vladimir Spivakov and Lorenzo Coladonato in the famous Festspielhaus in Baden-Baden and fascinated the audience. You are now able to watch this concert on David’s new DVD “Legacy – Live in Baden-Baden”, which will be released on 13th January 2012. The DVD also contains the documentation “Playing for my Life”.

The Scottish National Youth Orchestra performs Jay Capperauld's accordion concerto. In this new work, the Glasgow composer imposes spectacular and acrobatic figures on the ‘piano with braces’. In the second half, the audience is treated to Berlioz's Symphonie fantastique, featuring an ‘episode in the life of an artist’. Accordionist Ryan Corbett plays the solo part alongside the Scottish musicians and their conductor Catherine Larsen-Maguire.

Italian soloist Beatrice Rana performs Robert Schumann's Piano Concerto in A minor at Baden-Baden’s Festival Hall with the Chamber Orchestra of Europe conducted by Canadian maestro Yannick Nézet-Séguin.
