In this TV-series the events of the beginning of the 20th century in Russia are highlighted. Revolutioners, terrorists, spies - and investigator Putilovskii and his team fight them as best they can.
The characters have fictitious names, but they can easily be guessed by real people whom everyone knows perfectly well: Robert Rozhdestvensky, Yevgeny Yevtushenko, Andrei Voznesensky, Bulat Okudzhava, Bella Akhmadulina, Vladimir Vysotsky, Ernst Neizvestny, Vasily Aksenov himself and others.
In 15th Century Russia, the last Byzantium Princess, Sophia Palaiologina, moves from Rome to distant Moscow to marry Czar Ivan III. 1980 year. Pre-Olympic Moscow. The MUR people were tasked with preventing a single crime in the capital, clearing the city of all unreliable elements. But who might be interested in this?

USSR, June 2, 1962. After the reduction of wages and price increases, residents of Novocherkassk went to a peaceful demonstration. But passions quickly heated up and led to a tragedy - the shooting of protesting workers, despite the protests of General Shaposhnikov. The authorities manage to hush up the tragedy, they take a non-disclosure agreement from witnesses, and all those who disagree receive prison sentences.

Moscow Year New Year's Eve 1987. In the 25th hospital on duty are the obstetrician and the nurse. They make the rounds, after which sit down to celebrate the New Year. Suddenly, the hospital ambulance arrives with a pregnant woman - daughter of the general, who had an accident and she started the premature birth. Despite the exhortations of doctors that gestational age is a tragic turn for the child, a fierce general, threatening with a pistol, forcing him to take delivery. A child is born dead, and intimidated doctor decides to replace it for a living. On the same day another woman gave birth to twin-girls, one of which is changed. Ironically, the two girls called Masha.
In an abandoned apartment there are former spouses. Barricaded, the husband, thus, trying to escape from the criminals who hunt for compromising photos. But the ex-wife is there not by chance — she is the mistress of one of the kidnappers. But with an unusual date, the former feelings take over, the lovers decide to deceive the bandits and go on the run.
The hero of the film is senior police commissioner Kuzmin. The plot is based on the robbery of a savings bank, an attack on a woman with the theft of a bag, the fate of a talented artist driven into a dead end by life and, finally, the problems of fathers and children...
In 1985, perestroika began in the Soviet Union and the Laskovy May group appeared. At their concerts there were only full houses, from unrequited love for them, suicides were committed. The figure of Mikhail Gorbachev faded in the glory of the creator of "Tender May" - Andrei Razin. An accidental photo taken on the beach, where Andrei Razin, as a child, was captured with the Gorbachev family, turned his fate upside down. It was with the help of this photograph that he became Gorbachev's nephew. He did not say this directly - just hinted, and he was instantly believed. Functionaries of all ranks acted without delay: the doors of television and radio opened before him, the Soviet stage lay at his feet. Razin traveled to all the orphanages of the Soviet Union in search of gifted children for his twin groups.
The funeral of the next General Secretary K.U. Chernenko. Sergey Eremin, an editorial worker, decides to finally publish the story of his friend, whom he once betrayed. But the manuscript has disappeared, and Sergei decides to have a frank conversation with the author.
A future president must have no secrets from the voters — not even in his personal life. Intimate details can become powerful weapons in the hands of political opponents. And so, the presidential candidate is forced to publicly introduce his first wife — a woman he once loved passionately… and then betrayed.
