Vytautas Kalinauskas

A young biophysicist, dreaming of spiritual and physical immortality, makes an experiment on himself: by radioactive irradiation he violates the genetic code, as a result of which he passes into another biological substance and becomes immeasurably more perfect than his fellows on Earth.

The film is set in Lithuania after the Second World War. It shows dramatic events in a small Lithuanian farming community, where people are split between the Soviets and the "brothers in the woods", who are fighting to defend their land from the Soviets after the end of the Second World War.

The film tells about the famous Lithuanian director Vytautas Žalakevičius. The film contains many excerpts from the director's films and conversations with him. Here he talks about life, creativity and about himself. Vytautas Žalakevičius is remembered by his friends and associates.

Pranas, now a celebrity singer, returns to his homeland from a big city. He is greeted at the airport and driven to his native village by a childhood friend Jonas, who works there as a doctor.

The plot is based on the fate of the artist, reflected in art, which always accompanies people's lives, as well as dreams, pain or joy...

Two POWs - Russian and Lithuanian - are trying to escape a German Camp during WWII.

Summer 1940, Lithuania is already occupied by the Soviets. In the interrogation underground, interrogator Pijus Karpavičius is nervously smoking, while in another room two arrested people meet - priest Antanas and Kazys, the leader of the still-organising anti-Soviet underground.
