Dainara Toffoli (Porto Alegre, March 21, 1969) is a Brazilian filmmaker, director of series such as “Manhãs de Setembro”, “As Five” and “De volta aos 15”, and films such as the documentary “Dona Helena” and the fiction feature “Mar de Dentro”.

Mar de Dentro
Canudos was a small village in northeastern Brazil, founded by the messianic leader Antônio Conselheiro and massacred by a powerful army until the death of the last of its 30,000 inhabitants, on October 5, 1897. The film tells the story of the Canudos massacre from an English cannon, nicknamed by the backlands people "A Matadeira", which was transported by twenty teams of oxen through the backlands to fire a single shot.

O Vampiro de Novo Hamburgo
"Louceiras" portraits the daily life of the last ceramists of the Brazilian indigenous ethnic group Kariri-Xocó, who earn a living from clay. They inherit a tradition passed from mother to daughter concerning the art of choosing, manufacturing and cooking clay pots and pans. Living in a village by the São Francisco river in the city of Porto Real do Colégio(AL), they share with their people the secret of medicinal herbs, the Toré dance, the labour songs (rojão) and the secret of Ouricuri.
Louceiras
Monte Castelo is a fluvial shell midden, an artificial island, which was built and occupied from at least 6 thousand years. Located in the Guaporé river basin, in Rondônia, this site was excavated for the first time by archaeologist Eurico Miller in the 1980s. Thirty years later, it was located again by a team of archaeologists and the excavations were resumed, starting a new stage of surprising discoveries.
