The Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival and Awards (Chinese: 台北金馬影展; pinyin: Táiběi Jīnmǎ Yǐngzhǎn; Pe̍h-ōe-jī: Tâi-pak Kim-má iáⁿ-tián) is a film festival and awards ceremony held annually in Taiwan. It was founded in 1962 by the Government Information Office of the Republic of China (ROC) in Taiwan. The awards ceremony is usually held in November or December in Taipei, although the event has also been held in other locations in Taiwan in recent times

In 2013, the Golden Horse Film Festival celebrated its 50th anniversary. The ministry of Culture commissioned director Yang Li-chou to make a documentary about the history of Golden Horse. What is unique to this film is that it's not an ode to celebrities but about the role cinema plays in ordinary people's lives. It's a love letter to cinema, filmmakers and audiences.

For many years, Mr. Lee has been keeping a secret from his wife and two daughters that his elder daughter, Chelsia, is having some serious heart disease. Only his good friend, Dr. Fong, who made the diagnosis knows about it. Chelsia meets Ma, an overseas Chinese, at her secondary school graduation ball and gradually they fall in love with each other. Doctor Ma's son Chileung, who grows up with Lee's daughters, is fond of Chelsia while the younger daughter Chelwin loves him. However, neither of their affection is returned.

Pairs of best college friends, Shen Jung (Brigitte Lin) and Li Lun-mei (Chelsia Chan); Chen Cheng-hsiung (Chin Han) and Fang Juei (Alan Tam) meet at the tennis courts. Fang Juei likes the ebullient Li Lun-mei, but after hearing the contemplative Cheng-hsiung at a school concert, is smitten by his talents and looks. However, as fate would have it, Cheng-hsiung is after the studious and gentler Shen Jung.

Chung is in charge of an advertising company in Hong Kong. He's about to marry a model Woo. But Chung finds that Woo is cheating on him on her birthday. He's hurt so he goes to Korea for his new commercial. Chung starts to appreciate a Chinese singer Chelsia Chen by watching TV. He invites her to join his commercial shooting and they fall in love with each other. The commercial's successful in Hong Kong and Chelsia becomes a star now. Chung's uncle urges Chung to invite Chelsia to come to Hong Kong and he does so. Woo suddenly comes up and requires to cooperate with Chung again but gets refused. Woo's mad then turns to cooperate with another directo Choi. However, she's not happy with Choi and still wants to go back to Chung.

The Funny Couple is a Taiwanese Romantic Comedy starring Alan Tam

Cheerful graphic comedy taking place in a girl-jammed electronic processing factory. A young foreman, initiative and ambitious and hardworking, falls in love with a girl worker who leaves him because of a third party involved, but comes back to him at last and helps him run a factory of his own.

Chia-wen and Hsiao-fen are childhood friends. Chia-wen is the son of a rich landlord and Hsiao-fen is the daughter of a poor couple who works on the rich lanlord's land. Even as children Chia-wen and Hsiao-fen love each other deeply. Chia-wen is sent to school in the city. After graduation Chia-wen returns to the countryside and plans to make his childhood friend Hsiao-fen his wife. Chia-wen's father disapproves of the marriage between Chia-wen and Hsiao-fen and disowns Chia-wen. With the disapproval of their marriage, Chia-wen takes Hsiao-fen and they run away together. Unmarried, Chia-wen and Hsiao-fen live together and struggle to make a living.
