Young mums helped with the sales and design and publicity. Retired folk provided the drivers and stewards and props and logistics support. The Women's Institute organised a phenomenal catering effort and all the cast and crew were lodged in village homes for the duration of the shoot.

The text highlights the film's dated innocence, pointing out that she calls her students "children," a term that would be considered inappropriate today. This is further emphasized by the fact that the actors playing the students look to be around 30 years old, rather than actual high school age.
