An old downtown hotel had been visited by people with secrets. Each of them was assigned a number, and it was guaranteed that all the secrets would be forever kept in the hotel. No. 287 is quite a unique case. She hides her secrets in this hotel as well as a grand palace where her memories with her lover remain intact. Years later, the old hotel was relocated, and the palace was devoured by fire. All the secrets have thereby disappeared.

There is a group of young guys, parting themselves from social lives, staying in the damp shadow where they are lifeless, swimming in darkness, losing self-consciousness. This work covers a family history and discusses changes in the light of family in the economic globalization, including the constantly moving family, the absence of family members, the room for women in separated families, as well as representations the concept of home; ultimately what is the meaning of home? In the film, the use of light as a symbol highlights the sanctity of the family and the beginning of life and the use of changes in lighting in the home movie remind of the warm atmosphere in l’espace heureux and therefore leads us to imagine the deepening relationships between the members of this family.

Dark, unusual clouds gathered in the sky, slowly drifting toward the memory-laden hillside. With the typhoon approaching, people made their way to the cemetery atop Jian Mountain, hoping to reclaim the fading fragments of the past before the storm arrived. From deep within the mountains came the occasional sound of dogs barking—whispers, almost, of buried stories: ancestors who were relocated, stray dogs that were driven away, a woman still waiting for her husband’s return, and myself, trying to find a connection to my father in the cracks of memory—and perhaps, to find myself as well.
