Left at the altar after quitting her job to marry, Kaoru travels to the countryside to work at the Japanese inn and hot spring resort that her mother manages. With her daughter back, Kaoru’s mother decides to groom her to become the next manager, but this causes the woman previously in line for that position to become a jealous rival. On top of that, the rest of the staff don’t respect her and refuse to cooperate at every turn. Fighting to thwart the efforts of her rival, earning the respect of her co-workers, learning a new job and hopefully finding love along the way may be tough, but she is determined to make this her new home!

"W no Higeki" is an adaptation of a novel by Natsuki Shizuko, which was first published in 1982. It was turned into a theatrical movie in 1984, and has seen numerous adaptions into TV drama in 1983, 1986, 2001 and 2010 respectively. This new version of the story has Takei Emi playing two different characters with the exact same face. One is Mako, the future successor of a billion-dollar pharmaceutical conglomerate. She has always lived in comfort, but yearns for freedom. The other character is Satsuki, a lowly cleaner in a show pub who lives in solitude and destitution, and would do anything to get money, including prostituing her own body. One day, they met and decided to exchange lives.
A housewife, Saijo Kinuka lives with her husband Makoto and her high school daughter Honoka and her middle school son, Yuto. Due to the death of Makoto's father, they decide to move to a large European style house in Kamakura, with the second wife of Makoto's father, Saijo Chizuko. There, they host a home welcoming party, at which Kinuka invites her guests such as Suganuma Kyoko and company peers of Makoto. To every sense of the word, it is a perfect party in a perfect new environment. Like Chizuko will show-off her belly dance skills in front of everybody. This is when something shocking happens. While Kinuka is preparing for the party, suddenly her ex-boyfriend Seno Itsuki appears out of the blue. Due to loan payments which he has to deal with, he had decided to live in the attic of her new house!

Makoto Aida, 23, is a first year detective...a rookie. The only thing the rookie detective has going for him is the fact that he is a nice guy. After becoming a policeman, Makoto gets assigned to work as a cop in rural, Okutama, and begins to look forward to the easy life. He somehow winds up helping out in the apprehension of a suspect of a brutal crime, and gets awarded a letter of recommendation, which incidentally is to become a detective. Being that Makoto doesn't like to get involved in other people's quarrels, he is relieved to find out that he will be assigned to work public safety issues instead of criminal investigations. -- Fuji TV
Mariko Okano’s boyfriend Junichi Nagata leaves suddenly to become a volunteer teacher in a remote country. Mariko and Junichi’s families are both left wondering why he departed so quickly, without discussing his plans with them first. The next day, a woman’s charred body is discovered in a warehouse. The woman turns out to be Ayako Oshima, the mother of a student who was suspected of arson in a warehouse blaze 15 years ago. Oddly, Mariko had been trapped in that warehouse fire with another student, but was saved by Junichi. However, the other student died in the blaze. Soon after, Mariko receives a letter from Junichi, in which he confesses to a crime Mariko was not aware of. Are the two fires related? And what was the crime Junichi confessed to?

Kana Uemura's song "Toilet no Kamisama" turned into a 2-hour drama special on TBS. The song, which is nearly 10 minutes in length, tells of Uemura's relationship with her grandmother, from her childhood to her grandmother's death.
