Cinta SMU is an Indonesian soap opera produced by Rapi Films which premiered on 21 March 21 2002 on Indosiar. This soap opera stars Nabila Syakieb, Hessel Steven, and Zaskia Adya Mecca.

Isabella (Nia Zulkarnaen), Indonesian girl who settled in Malaysia, fell in love with Amy (Amy Search), pemuzik rock. Kasino and Indro work at their uncle’s chicken farm. They are jealous of Dono, son of the uncle who studied in America, and returns with an American girlfriend, Madonna. But Dono is already arranged to marry Ayu Sukoco by his parents. The comedy is played out in the chicken farm, Madonna’s awkwardness in a village environment, Dono running away with his girlfriend because his parents disapprove of them, an auto repair shop, and a dream about entering Indian territory.

Singer Anna Maria Larasati is a widow with one child but after returning from a visit abroad, she regains her popularity back home. One of her fans, Johan, is the son-in-law of a rich man, who is not happy with his marriage and now tries to pursue Anna Maria. But she rejects him and he gets into an accident and is killed. Then Budiman, comforts her and also helps her take care of her son, Boy. Budiman has been attracted to Anna for a long time but when their love starts to bloom, Anna’s chronic disease strikes back. On her deathbed, she asks Budiman to look after Boy.

Beni, who has been dating Ida for a long time, is now interested in Ratmi, who becomes a queen of a competition by bribing the judges. The director of the biscuits factory where Ratmi works, uses her image as an advertisement for the biscuits. When Ratmi’s pet goat disturbs her neighbour, Ida’s widowed sister, Beni sells the goat and he uses sale’s commission to date Ida. Other comedic incidents are strung together in this generic comedy.

Sumiati lets her husband marry Yati because she cannot bear a child. But when Yati delivers, Sumiati is pregnant and gives birth to Mira. Mira’s presence worries Yati. Therefore Yati accuses Sumiati of cheating. Sumiati leaves the house. Mira learns of this history as Yati always insults her when she asks for her monthly allowance. There is more tension when Rachmat, who is matched to Yati’s daughter, Neneng, is more attracted to Mira. By chance, Mira repeatedly catches Yati having affairs. Her father is furious. Then Yati runs away with the fortune and the child of her affair. Neneng, who stays, commits suicide. Her father realises his mistake and reconciles with Sumiati. Rachmat has also come back for Mira.

Yanti, has to deal with major changes when her parents divorce. Yanti chooses to live with her mother, but a shock awaits her when her mother is remarried to Bambang, a man whose character is far from the image of a father. She does not feel easy at home, loses her motivation to go to school, prefers to hang out with her friends and gives her virginity to her boyfriend, Frans. When Bambang tries to rape her, she runs away from home and stays with Frans. But it doesn’t last long since the widow who supports Frans gets out of jail. So Yanti goes to her old friend, Irma, and becomes a bartender of a brothel in Tandes. One day, her stepfather comes to the brothel and sees Yanti. Yanti avoids him by leaving with one of the guests from the bar. Then Frans comes to take her out of the place. But Bambang confronts Frans so Yanti takes a knife and stabs Bambang. Yanti goes to jail but she gets married inside the prison.
