In the Crack of the Land is an allegorical tale of the threatened spirit of the Icelandic highlands. It is only during the night that the hidden folks come out and dance with the glacial river. But tracks in the snow lead to unforeseen results. With animation the film reflects a light on the parts of Icelandic culture that are sometimes forgotten or taken for granted, like the endangered highlands.
