One lovely day a young man, a former ballet dancer suddenly finds himself on a pension and begins searching for a new place in life. Fate brings him together with a rather mischievous young day for whom her mother has been trying to find a tutor. Many exciting events begin to take place.

In a late 19th-century Estonian village, farmer Jaan struggles. He works for Andres but can't provide enough. Jaan falls for Andres' daughter, Anni, who helps. Desperate, Jaan turns to theft, gets caught, and is sent to Siberia with Anni.

Agu Sihvka, his friend Juhan Kiilike and other fourth class pioneers are energetic youngsters. Unfortunately their ventures do not always go as planned, and Agu Sihvka there again have to sit down and write an explanatory letter to the head of the class or principal, to report on how things came to so unexpected consequences.

A group of sleepless men should be taken into sanitarium for insomnia therapy. They are taken to a lonely island but no sanitarium is in sight. It turns out that the nurses have kidnapped the men and are about to give them the only useful medicine they need - fresh air and work. But the patients decide to disobey. There's only one solution - to escape.

The story of a young art student who goes to the countryside for a summer internship in watercolor and rents a room in a house by the sea. Conversations with an old housekeeper and meetings with an initially somewhat fussy and naive girl draw one summer in the life of a young man. Whether it's a girl's going to university, meetings with people from a beach village, or an old woman's reminiscences of past times, something about these topics has an enlightening effect on the young man. At the end of summer, a young man's eye and weather view is brighter and wider. It is a lyrical and tender story of the beginning of young love and the life experience of a fading Estonian generation.
