An anthology series of television plays which aired on BBC1 from October 1964 to May 1970. The plays were usually written for television, although adaptations from other sources also featured.

It has been years since Don Alvaro Dabo, the Grand Master of the Order of Santiago, has given up the profession of arms. This play by Henry de Montherland, takes place in 1517 and depicts the Cardinal de Cisneros, an authoritarian man approaching his end, regent of the throne of Spain oscillating between his desire for power and his tendency to inaction. Thinking himself invulnerable, he awaits the arrival of young Charles on the throne, but his beliefs will be shaken.
