The story of an orphan boy

A mother's courage, hardship, and love, in times of war. In 1988, during the Iran-Iraq war, Gilane escorts her pregnant daughter, Maygol, from the relative calm of their village, Espili, into war-torn Tehran to search for Maygol's husband, Rahman. The journey is arduous and what they find when they reach the capital is dismaying and frightening. Fifteen years later, as another war begins in Iraq, Gillane is at home caring for her son Ismael, who suffers from epilepsy, a byproduct of war. As she cares for him, she hopes for a visit from the doctor and from another daughter, Atefah. "Better be a dog than a mother," she says.

Me is written and directed by Soheil Beiraghi and produced by Saeed Sa’adi and Saeed Khani. The film is about Azar (Leila Hatami), a woman who acts as a middle-man for those seeking illicit goods. According to Beiraghi: “I didn’t want to portray an ordinary woman, but the one who is living a double life. She is a rebellious woman who rebels against the law and individuals.” Me was officially selected in the Certain Regard section at the 34th Fajr International Film Festival.

Roya and Babak are a young couple who intend to emigrate from Iran. Roya's encounter with an anonymous girl is the beginning of strange events in their life.

Siavash, a young man burdened by the mysterious suicide of his father, finds himself entangled in a web of family intrigue. His uncle, managing his father’s estate, seeks to marry Siavash’s mother, a union Siavash vehemently opposes. Amidst this turmoil, Siavash’s love for his cousin Mahtab, whose father is his uncle’s councillor, complicates matters further. As the day of the union approaches, Siavash is struck by a profound realisation: his life bears a striking resemblance to Shakespeare’s Hamlet. This revelation ignites a series of questions, challenging his understanding of the true nature of his father’s death.

The lack of communication between the mother and the father of a 13 year old, leads inevitably to a divorce. During this ordeal their son, feeling out of place, befriends some troubled older kids and gets involved in murder.

After the execution of a man, his brother tries to find those responsible for the death of his brother.

The war between Iran and Iraq is raging. Near the border on the Iranian side, an old man takes care of martyrs’ graves by the little cabin where he lives with his wife and grandson, while the boy’s father is fighting in the war. Suddenly one day, their home is invaded by a wounded Iraqi officer and two of his subordinates. They desperately need care and a place to hide. The intruders and the little family do not understand each other’s language, the tone is aggressive and an intense, life-and-death chamber play ensues.
