The true story of a young couple (Babis and Eleni) fighting for love and freedom. An odyssey in and out of prisons during the dark period between the Greek civil war until the end of dictatorship in 1974.

A conscientious tanker driver, Thanasis Papathanasis, works hard to help his sister Afroditi study medicine. He believes that in this way he will be able to marry her off so that then he can finally marry Eleni, whom he has loved for years. His efforts, however, are all in vain, as he is constantly confronted with a corrupt establishment and political situation that generate all the prevailing misfortunes: personal, social and national.

A man who lives in the underworld and on the margins of society, in order to pay off his debts, pretends to be a woman's husband so that she can satisfy her father's request to see her restored to her former status. The strange couple will slowly bond, and true love will blossom between them. The hesitations and shadows of the past will fade away in the face of the power of their feelings.

Thirty-year-old lower middle class Dimitris, faint-hearted and not particularly ambitious, is ready to jump at the opportunity that will get him handsomely provided. He wavers between yesterday, the German occupation nightmare and his love debut with a neighbour and contemporary, fluid reality. He meets Thaleia, a rich woman his age, who frequents the same night club as him, but his daily routine is invariably the same. The closure of the small industry in Drapetsona, where he used to work for the last 8 years, and his relationship with Maria confront him with a different reality. Maria is a progressive, evening school teacher, full of dreams.

A Greek immigrant (Savalas) and his son return to Greece, where they reunite with mother and brother and re-discover their heritage and each other. Cross-cultural misunderstandings abound.

Two friends from the province dream of going to Athens. On board the train, however, two smugglers are being asked and offered to hire them as waiters in the nightclub as a showcase.

Two poor roommates, Mitros and Mitrousis, struggle to survive by doing odd jobs, from the neighborhood kiosk to the restaurant. They try to deceive their creditors by selling them promises of a hair loss remedy they are manufacturing. However, when their creditors realize that they have been defrauded, they pursue them, unaware that an ingenious industrialist is perfecting their medicine.

An honest and sensitive girl who lives with her grandmother, Lena Petri, believes that the man she loved has deceived her in a despicable way. Disappointed, she throws herself in front of a car. Seriously injured, she is taken to the hospital, but is saved thanks to the successful surgery performed by Dr. Varna. When she recovers, she falls in love with him, but is forced to suppress her feelings when she learns that he is engaged to a ruthless social climber who will stop at nothing to climb the social ladder. However, a journalist who is well acquainted with Athenian high society helps the innocent Lena get together with Varna.

Shadow puppetry is not only part of the heritage of East Asia; Greece had its own traditional form of this popular art. In this leisurely drama, set in 1950s Athens, Antonis Barkis (Kostas Kasakos) is the master puppeteer for a traditional shadow show. However, although he is still making a living, it is clear that other forms of popular entertainment will soon supplant this one. This does not improve Antonis' temper, and his assistant's desires to modernize their entertainments only make it worse.
