Manuel, a young man with a lot of creativity in search of a better economic position, meets in a fortuitous way with Lucía, daughter of the businessman who can support his project. To be accepted by his possible father-in-law and be able to fulfill his dream of being a successful businessman, Manuel does everything to win over Lucía. Without realizing it, he goes through funny situations in which he finds himself immersed in terrorist actions against the government. Manuel must decide whether to continue with those "commitments" or have a clear conscience according to his principles.

On April 11th of 2002 a coup d'état against the venezuelan president Hugo Chávez Frías kept the country in a state of total uncertainty regarding his whereabouts, two days later he returned to power. This is a chronicle of those days.

Devil Gold is director José Novoa's third collaboration with producer Elia Schneider, and like the previous two films, Huelepega (or Glue Sniffer, which Schneider directed in 2000) and Sicario (1994), the film is a thriller-melodrama that focuses on a real-life problem plaguing Venezuela, with an emphasis on how the conditions affect children. Thus, after a few titles explaining the impact that gold mining has had on the country's Amazon region, along with helicopter footage (later to be blended into the narrative) of the ecologically devastated area, the film settles in on the lawless shanty town of Payapal for its narrative. Gallego (Armando Gota) runs the mine, exploiting his cheap labor force. Aroldo (Pedro Lander) breaks into Gallego's safe and steals his gold, along with a good deal of gold that Gallego was holding for his workers. Aroldo involves the unwitting Carmen (Jenny Noguera) in the robbery, and, when they are discovered, he shoots and kills Gallego's young son.

PEPE (35) and BECA (30), he is an innkeeper and she a singer, are diagnosed with leukemia. Both are treated at Hope Hospital, a hospital in the City of Miami. Pepe has the support of his brother MANUEL, BECA has a difficult relationship with his mother MARIA ELENA. In the search for a cure, they fall in love and are transformed by the various romantic, comical and painful situations they face. It is through humor and love that they discover the way to feel good in spite of their illness. Pepe tries to hide his social status, Rebeca will find new struggles as a result of this love, which will lead her to face a difficult decision. Pepe is not only afraid of not being able to finish the treatment, he is afraid of losing Rebeca forever.

This funny story tells the twists and turns of an old lady who has a habit of constantly running away from the nursing home where she lives. The nursing home employees and her loved ones are worried about her health and safety, and fear that the poor lady is wandering scared and lost through the city streets. But contrary to what everyone thinks, appearances can be deceiving, as the old lady runs away to meet the love of her life, a German.
