Biography
Marão graduated from the UFRJ School of Fine Arts and is an animation director, having made fourteen short films and participated in more than three hundred animations for advertising, internet, TV and cinema. He was founding President of ABCA (Brazilian Association of Animation Cinema), professor on the postgraduate course in animation at PUC for seven years and since 2003 he has been one of the coordinators of International Animation Day and managing partner of the production company Marão Drawings Excited. His short films have been selected for 658 film festivals in more than forty countries and received 124 awards. Marão was honored at the 20th Anima Mundi and also received retrospectives at the Baixada Animada, Iguacine, Animanima (Serbia), ReAnimania (Armênia), Anima BR (Angola) and ANIMAGE (PE) festivals.
