David Ross, a young farmer in a small New York town, becomes entranced with worldly radio personality Maida Vincent. Maida and her friend, Josie Dare, discover the gravely ill Mary in New York City and write to Henry, unaware that he has since died. When Mary's brother, Thomas, arrives in the city to find his sister dead, he persuades Maida to assume her identity and claim the fortune. Maida falls in love with David during her stay in the small town, and upon discovering that he is the alternate heir, she reveals her true identity. David forgives her and they are married.

Learning that he had been adopted from a foundling asylum in infancy, Bob decides to go to New York to see if he cannot learn his real name, which he understands begins with "Mor."

After experimenting on his cook, revealing her secret whiskey and cigar smuggling, the serum accidentally splashes on Thorpe Willis, a reporter, who confesses his deepest feelings. The professor, annoyed by the widespread attention and requests for the serum, destroys the formula and secures it in a safe. However, a crook, "Smoothy" Smithers, steals the liquid, drops it, and publicly confesses to a burglary. Ultimately, the reporter, Thorpe, crafts a hoax about the serum, and the professor accepts him as his son-in-law.
