Overnight, nothing changes for Leonie and Tom Sauter: their four-year-old daughter Salomé has vanished without a trace. When a ransom demand arrives, the extortionist turns out to be an opportunist who has nothing to do with the kidnapping – but the man is fatally hit by a train during the money exchange. Tom, now suspected of murder, decides to flee. Together with private investigator Lüthi and journalist Ulla Merz, the Sauters try to find Salomé.
In the forest of Hablikon, the administrator Reichle is found shot dead. He had gone hunting with three other respected citizens of the community. Detective Sergeant Müller takes charge of the investigation. The first suspect is the nephew of one of the hunters, who was also at the scene at the time of the shooting and was on parole from prison. With no clear motive, Müller focuses his attention on the honorable and irreproachable fellow hunters. Their clean facade begins to crumble during his investigations. Village doctor Amsler, banker Meier, and architect Häuptl all had something to hide. Reichle knew about their private and business misdeeds. Müller also learns from Alvine Dünki, the dead man's lover, that money from the community coffers was used for the four men's entertainment. The murderer is convicted after the crime is reconstructed.

Oscar Bänz is a solid, middle-class taxi driver and widower. He loves his daughter Irma with all his heart. In order to provide for her, he has not remarried. To finance her education, Bänz rents a room to Toni Schellenberg, a young man from the countryside with a promising future as a soccer player. But the big city, easy money, and superficial friends cause Toni to neglect his training and evening classes, and eventually his employer fires him. Irma, who has fallen in love with the handsome athlete, asks her father for help. He is finally able to find Toni a job as a taxi driver. But when Irma attends a student party and also agrees to a date with the senior physician Dr. Zbinden, Toni feels neglected.

Love and friendship, lies and betrayal - comedies often deal with existential themes. But not always. Sometimes everyday life is enough to pick up an audience and entertain them. The audience suddenly sees themselves as experts who can give an informed opinion on what is happening on stage: In the case of "Pantoffelheld" from 1983, it was probably primarily housewives, ironing men were rather the exception back then. Among them was the newly minted househusband Daniel, who struggles with an ironing board and creased jeans. Paul Bühlmann as his buddy Georges does a much more confident job.
SVP National Councillor Arthur Aebi has checked into the Parkhotel for a fling with SP secretary Anita Fröhlich. But when they go to admire the view, a dead body is found on the balcony. As nobody is allowed to know about the meeting between Aebi and Fröhlich, the body has to disappear. Aebi calls his secretary Willy Waser, who then gets involved in the whole mess, not entirely voluntarily.
Wanner, a man of independent means, has a mistress in Geneva. However, in order to spend a few days with her without risk, he decides to open a sales branch of a long-defunct company. He therefore hires a "trusted" employee in Geneva to look after the office premises, including the bedroom, and to provide his mistress with everything she needs. This arrangement works quite well at first, and Wanner enjoys this sweet diversion to the fullest until... well, until his wife wants to visit the branch and, above all, meet his business partner.
