Ein Fall für zwei is a German television series, which premiered on September 11, 1981 on ZDF. The series, located in Frankfurt am Main, features two main characters who solve crimes: a defense attorney and a private investigator. Josef Matula, a former German police officer, has gone into private business. His method of investigation is very effective and direct, and he sometimes even resorts to dirty tricks. Claus Theo Gärtner has portrayed the role since the start of the series.

Tommie is the absolute loser in his home district of Cologne-Kalk: no money, no apartment of his own, no girlfriend. In the exhaust workshop where he toils, the foreman is constantly angry with him. But Tommie is in a great mood: The video freak dreams enthusiastically through the fantasy world of film art, preferably with the bust sex star Gianna S. in the leading role. Tommie collects exhaust pipes. When he steals a particularly capital specimen from Jupp's swank Mercedes, he gets into real trouble. He has no choice but to return the exhaust to Jupp, but his deadly ultimatum of procuring a case of the rare beer brand "Ramsdorfer Kölsch" by seven o'clock in the evening proves to be insanely difficult. Two friends who are doing civil service flee to the Austrian Alps to escape being forced into the army. While there, one of them rediscovers his past and they realise that it's going to be more fun than they thought.

Oliver and the much older photographer Hendrik are a couple. A rather contrasting couple: Hendrik has already achieved a lot in his life and is considered an 'old hand' in his profession. Oliver, on the other hand, is only at the beginning of his career as a photographer and has retained a childlike naivety and playfulness in his life plans. Oliver and the young Silvia meet at a photo session. It is immediately clear to the ambitious Silvia that Oliver is her springboard to a modeling career. That same evening, Hendrik proposes to Oliver. But Oliver makes an almost unfulfillable condition: He wants a child! Hendrik is completely at a loss. What should he do? Then Silvia bursts into his house. All she really wants is to be photographed by Oliver. But things turn out differently...

Christa and Theo Zerrback have been running a small kiosk in the Ruhr area for many years - with moderate success. Although Theo often argues with Christa, he is extremely popular in the neighborhood. Not least because he gives his buddies generous credit. Shortly after betting the kiosk's earnings on a horse race, Theo dies unexpectedly of a heart attack. Christa has to run the indebted business on her own, but neither her mother Hanna nor her two daughters Dany and Sonja are much help. The only ray of hope is the teacher and pigeon fancier Jörg Erdmann, with whom Christa falls in love. And Theo also comes to her aid: as an angel who intervenes in her life via a TV screen.
