Hand aufs Herz is a German television soap opera and premiered on October 4, 2010 on the private broadcasting station Sat.1. It got canceled in June 2011, announcing the series finale for September 5, 2011. However that changed when Sat.1 decided to drop the show from its line-up and sixx was announced to air the remaining episodes; with a one-hour series finale on September 2, 2011. The show focuses around a fictional high school in Cologne and tackles with young love, a marriage crisis, a mysterious disappearance, schemes and competition fights, coming out, drug abuse, career chances and forbidden feelings. Hand aufs Herz also introduces something completely new to the genre of a soap opera by including music and dance as one of the main elements. It has been compared to the successful American television show a hit TV show, Glee and the High School Musical franchise. Even though it started out as a musical series, the show shifts its stories from that plot even though it remains a part of the series. Hand aufs Herz started two weeks after the failed daily drama Eine wie keine aired its final episode due to low ratings. The show is in direct competition with the long-running soap opera Verbotene Liebe and is starring with Vanessa Jung and Andreas Jancke two of its former stars.

After getting plastered with absinthe the two slackers Jacob and David find a pizza box on which they deliriously wrote a thesis for a new religion. On the internet solvent followers join their church and soon their Pay Pal account is bursting at the seams. Because of their intensive passion for video games, they hire Eva, who is supposed to manage the pastoral counseling. To make themselves seem reputable in front of the tax authorities and be able to circulate an actual offertory bag, a real church has to be built. Coincidentally Eva just met a carpenter. A dream comes true for Anne Bruckmann when she travels to Denmark with her husband Norbert to visit the sperm whale grounds at the North Cape in Norway. But then, shortly after arriving in Sønderborg, Denmark, a serious argument breaks out - with the result that Norbert, already exasperated, breaks off the vacation, while Anne wants to continue the trip alone. Alice Cordes is to spend Christmas with her boyfriend Nicolas Huber's family in Upper Bavaria. Although the Hamburg chef no longer has parents herself, she initially reacts hesitantly to the invitation: a family celebration? But they haven't known each other that long. Unfortunately, their journey together comes to nothing: Nicolas is held up by work and has to join them. Alice only finds out about this at the train station in snowy Bavaria.

The story revolves around a crew member of a spaceship who is murdered. The remaining crew-mates lock themselves in the cafeteria after the murder to figure out who the murder is. The tension in the room is like crazy as everyone becomes suspicious. Apparently a mysterious virus would turn people into killers.

Marcel, a discouraged paraplegic struggling with day-to-day challenges, is the only witness of an epileptic seizure and has to intervene on his own in order to help a stranger.
