When archaeologist Shirley Yang learns of her father's disappearance, she returns to China and enlists the help of tomb raiders to track him down.

In the 1980s, when middle-aged Hu Ba Yi packs his belongings for one of his adventures, he finds an old photo, which brings his memory back to his college days in the 1960s. He then reminiscence about his first adventure that led him to become a tomb-expert.

It has been a year since XiaoLin's death. She has left behind her husband, YiFan and their 5 year old son XiaoBin. Like the picture book the mother left behind, day-by-day XiaoBin waits for the rainy season to come, if as a miracle will happen. Suddenly, one day in a deserted forest a phenomenal event happens. Right before the YiFan's and XiaoBin's eyes XiaoLin mysteriously appears, however she has no memory of her life and no sense of identity. Thus, to get back XiaoLin's memory YiFan talks about their past and rekindles what they had. As the rainy season comes to an end XiaoLin leaves her husband and son again. It's only after XiaoLin leaves the untold mysteries and events are explained and understood.

Holly, traumatized by her mother's accidental death, develops selective mutism. Her father takes her to his workplace at a natural wetland hoping to help her recover. Holly befriends a wounded swan and nurtures it back to health. The swan helps Holly become happy again, and eventually to outgrow the trauma of her mother's death. Unfortunately, a man with evil intentions steals the swan, leading Holly and her father into difficult search for her best friend.
