A mini series based upon the book by Hans Kirk. A classic television drama and a delightful series about life in a remote community on the west coast in a bygone era. A group of fishermen and their families move across the fjord and settle in a small community. Here they thrive and become more and more established, setting the standard for how life should be lived. But not everyone in the families wants to live in this community and tries to break out.
The Fishermen

In the early 17th century, the tyrannical parish priest in Vejlby, Søren Jensen Quist, tries to force his daughter Maren into a lucrative marriage with the wealthy farmer Mikkel Ibsen. However, Maren prefers the bailiff. When Mikkel feels that both the bailiff and the priest are encroaching on his power, he arranges for the priest to be convicted and executed for the murder of Mikkel's brother, Nils Ibsen.
Præsten i Vejlby

In a dilapidated little apartment in Vesterbro, Mrs. Knudsen lives with her incompetent and petty criminal son Arnold. Arnold's friend Benny also hangs out in the apartment at all hours, even though there is tension between the two companions. When a pretty girl accidentally rings the doorbell and ends up moving in, the battle between the two rivals breaks out into the open, and there is little room left for old Mrs. Knudsen.
