Just before wowing international critics and moviegoers with his adventure romp Fanfan la Tulipe, director Christian-Jaque dashed off the lampoonish Barbe-Bleue. Ostensibly the story of the famed wife-killing potentate Bluebeard (Pierre Brasseur), this lighthearted costumer begins as the title character is poised to march down the matrimonial aisle for the eighth time. Barbe-Bleue's newest spouse Aline (Cécile Aubry) is kept in line by her husband's claims of murdering her predecessors. But when Aline opens the famous locked door to the equally famous hidden room, both she and the audience are in for quite a surprise. The frivolous nature of Barbe-Bleue is underlined by its pleasing utilization of the French Gezacolor process.

Ellinor Patton is so wealthy that her six unsuccessful marriages are considered befitting of her status. She is currently unhappily single again and hoping for her lucky number seven. Vico, the hotel owner's son, dreams of a career as a singer and is in love with the flower girl Blanche. His father is eagerly trying to prevent both. Vico proves that he really has talent at a concert by the Mantovani orchestra.

"Bluebeard" (German: "Blaubart") is a 1951 black comedy film directed by Christian-Jaque and starring Hans Albers, Cécile Aubry and Fritz Kortner. Based on the fairy tale "Bluebeard" by Charles Perrault, it was a co-production between West Germany, France and Switzerland. It was made using the Gevacolor process. A separate French-language version, "Barbe-Bleue", was also made.

For the corpulent nobleman Sir John Falstaff, the inn in the small English town of Windsor is the best of all places. Here he can indulge in excessive dining and intemperate drinking, as well as swagger and boast about his adventures, particularly those of an amorous nature. At present, he has designs on the two young women, Mistress Reich and Fluth, who, in turn, lead the paunchy protagonist mightily by the nose.

In the Danish port city of Belgesund, the caretaker of a private high school has fallen victim to murder. Detective Thomsen takes on the case and finds that behind the clean facade there are abysses. A story about a family after the Second World War. The petty bourgeois cashier Karl Weber of Berlin observes from a distance how his son Ernst participates in the building of a new socialist society. Berlin, shortly after World War II. Five parentless siblings, led by the oldest sister Inge Kuckert, search for a place to stay and a basis of existence in the destroyed city. A bombed villa in the Grunewald seems to be the right "cuckoo's nest", but an alleged authorised disposal tries to drive the siblings out of the building. Vera Romeyke is an idealistic and committed teacher who tries to interest her pupils in the subject matter with new forms of teaching. In role-playing games, they are encouraged to reflect on their own lives and those of their parents and learn to question social conventions. The conservative parents fear that this project is aimed at "left-wing indoctrination". They turn to the school authorities, who eventually transfer Vera Romeyke.

On his wife Lucy's birthday, sales representative Harry Clayton cannot be with her in their cottage in the country, but is in London on business, where he is staying at the Wilson couple's boarding house. When Lucy calls him in the evening, she tells him that Pointer the woodsman has come by and worked for her in the garden. Harry is worried: the couple had already had a bad experience with Pointer, who was often drunk, and didn't really want to employ him again. Just as Harry and Lucy are about to hang up, Lucy hears a strange noise from outside: apparently someone is on the property. Harry is worried because Lucy is alone in the house and now she remembers that she hasn't locked the back door. As she goes to lock it, the telephone line, which was manually connected by two operators, is disconnected.
