Ingrid Eriksson, a social worker, decides to find out something about the problems facing housemaids and gets herself a job as one at the home of John Willman's family. John's son, Åke, falls in love with her and numerous complications arise before the course of true love runs smoothly.

Swedish movie from 1939. In summer Stockholm live the unemployed musician Nisse trying to sell the songs to music publishers. One day the treasurer of a prominent publisher is arrested, on suspicion of theft of 10,000 crowns from a cash box. Nisse has, however, seen something suspicious.

Martin is married to Frida and together they have a son. One day after a quarrel with his wife, he goes to buy flowers to ask for forgiveness. In the flower shop he meets the beautiful Rut and falls instantly in love. They both start a passionate love affair but beneath the beautiful surface hides a completely different woman than he expected ...

Lasse Brenner is a serious filmmaker (spoof on Ingmar Bergman) who is forced to direct a lighthearted comedy. The filming takes place in different cities across Europe and North Africa so Brenner and the crew have to sail on a cruse ship. Brenner's wife suspects he has an affair with the lead actress, so she also boards the ship undercover to keep an eye on him.

An agrarian community sometime in the 1700s. The farmer Påvel is married with his young wife Märit and very proud to have married such a young and sweet girl. Märit however, is disappointed about her marriage. Their neighbor Håkan lives alone on his farm and he falls in love with Märit. He tells her of his feelings and Märit is torn between the security of her marriage and the feelings she has for Håkan.

Ulla and Gunnar meet and fall in love in Stockholm in the late 1930s. Early in their relationship Ulla discovers that she is pregnant but she decides to get an abortion because she doesn't want to pressure Gunnar into marrying her. The outbreak of the war puts a strain on their relationship when Gunnar gets called up for military service.

A professor suffers an accident that disables him. He struggles to keep his courage, trying to understand and solve a conflict with his wife.

A girl (Alice Babs) from the country moves to Stockholm to become a singer.

Dr. Glas is visited by Mrs. Gregorius who lives in an unhappy marriage and decides to help her, by any means necessary.
