Eugenie Magnus Ingleton

In 1869, enemies of railroad magnate Richard Strong attempt to ruin him. Richard thwarts them, largely through the help of Charles Dalton, but then Charles tries to seduce Elinor, Richard's wife. Although she rebuffs Charles, Richard accuses her of infidelity, so Elinor leaves him and goes to Paris. Richard follows her, but, caught in the middle of the 1870 riots, he cannot get near her. Charles, also in Paris, finally convinces Richard that nothing had come of his interest in Elinor, but Richard now believes that Elinor no longer loves him.

The hypnotic Svengali controls the singing voice of a young starlet, but he cannot control her heart.

Pursued by three Indian priests after stealing “The Moonstone” a valuable diamond from the eye of an Indian idol Englishman, Hearncastle is found drowned, presumably by the Indians. Possession of the Moonstone passes to his friend Franklin Blake who presents the diamond to his fiancée. However it is stolen and suspicion falls on another girl who loves Blake particularly after she leaves a mysterious note at her suicide. Subsequently, a doctor discovers that Blake walks in his sleep and took the diamond himself while in that state, but then stolen and never recovered. At last, the thief confesses before his death with Blake and his fiancée reuniting.

Jimmy Mason lifts himself up from poverty to unlimited riches. The audience knows that he couldn't have done it without the help and support of his wife Marion. When Jimmy starts cheating on her, she divorces him, receiving an enormous settlement. Yano is a small delivery boy for his uncle, who keeps a curio shop in Chinatown. His loves are Tama, his sweetheart, and Bengi, his dog. Bengi is seized by dog catchers, but is rescued by Letty Stanford, for which Yano promises his fealty. Later Letty is kidnapped by Germans because of her war activities, and it is Yano who goes to her rescue and gets her free in spite of his diminutive size. The Little Japanese has paid his debt.

Henry Clive, a wealthy widower, placed his small daughter, May, in a convent when she was a mere child, and now that her education is completed takes her home. Clive, alone, has amused himself according to his fancy, but now that his daughter has come to live with him he decides to reform.

Aviator Richard March, is shot down over France, though not badly hurt in the crash, he steals a kiss from Marion Weston, the Red Cross nurse whose ambulance comes to his aid. After the war, Richard resumes his professional life as an actor and meets Marion by chance at a skating party. At first she snubs him, but he soon charms her, and they become constant companions. Marion later believes that Richard is having an affair with Suzette, his leading lady, and she again turns the cold shoulder toward him. Richard writes a play based on his own experiences, and Marion comes to see she misjudged him. Connie, who is jealous of Richard's love for Marion, attempts to compromise him. Connie herself later confesses her scheme to discredit Richard, and Richard and Marion are reunited.

After serving in the Great War, international crook Anthony Trent resolves to go straight.
