Along the way, she travels through a world where the tremors are multiplying. As she searches for the origins of her power, Chesa discovers that the earth is shaking because of the Dark Teeth, a landless people who feed on anthracite. Driven by their ever-increasing hunger, they dig into the earth and accelerate continental drift.
