Kankal is a social horror drama which shows how a spirit can fulfil its desire with its intense power. The story begins with Abhay being killed by a skeleton and police come for the inspection. Dr. Sanyal takes us back to the story where Tarala got married to Rattan, a rich man. But Tarala's sister-in-law's brother, Abhay was in love with Tarala whom Tarala didn't like for his bad attitude and lower education. So to take the revenge, Abhay married Rattan's sister. By moulding Rattan, Abhay took all his wealth and tried to rape Tarala. Though Rattan came to save her, he was being driven out by Abhay. In this situation Tarala passes away unknowingly and Abhay tried to hide her dead body by throwing it in the river. Rattan unable to find his wife became mad and roamed around in search for her.

A working-class leader confronts a villainous factory owner, falls in love with the boss's daughter unaware of her family origins and, after many adventures and setbacks, it is revealed that the hero is in fact the official heir to the property the villain had usurped. An influential Bengali novelist acknowledging allegiance to socialism, Mitra's studio-bound film concentrates on showing the milieu of the rich while the dialogues make numerous references to the workers and the poor.

Nilachaley Mahaprabhu was a 1957 Indian Bengali biographical film directed by Kartik Chattopadhyay, based on the life of 15th-century mystic Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, who started his spiritual journey and Hindu reform movement, part of the Bhakti movement during his years at Nilachal, the shrine of Jagannath at Puri. It stars Asim Kumar in the titular role with Dipti Roy, Sumitra Devi, Ahindra Choudhury, Bhanu Bandyopadhyay, Nripati Chattopadhyay and Chhabi Biswas in supporting roles.

A lady visited Mr. Surajit Roy, a detective, with a proposal to steal a will from a landlord's house. Surajit did not accept the assignment. Soon after, he received a telegram from one Rajib Lochan Choudhury, zamindar of a remote village in Murshidabad district. It appeared that Rajib Lochan's life was in danger. When Surajit visited his house the zamindar had already been murdered. Detective Surajit started an investigation while staying at the house. He saw a nurse, Anima, appointed for Rajib Lochan and recalled that this lady went to him with the proposal of theft. There were several relatives and servants in the house but most of them concealed some or other facts from him. Finally, Surajit was successful in tracking down the real culprit

Deciding to start a school for girls named after his wife, a zamindar looks for a married couple to manage the establishment. They apply for and get the job. The two are not actually married; they posed as a couple to obtain the job. After a series of complications and delicate situations, love blooms between the two and they marry.

A dance film idealising poverty made mainly to showcase Bose's talents. Labour leader Suryashankar is jailed for trade union activities and, when released, finds that his friend Jagdish has stolen his property and plagiarised his play Bhookh (Hunger). To take revenge on behalf of the poor, Suryashankar's daughter Kumkum (Bose) marries Jagdish's son Chandan (Bhattacharya). Later she collaborates in staging a play meant to expose Jagdish's evil past. The film's publicity slogan was 'She robbed her husband to feed the poor!'

Lord Krishna visits Suryapith with his friend Akrur, where they meet Satyabhama, the daughter of Satrajeet. Akrur proposes to Satyabhama, but she addresses him as a brother, leading him to resent Krishna. Satyabhama, however, falls in love with Krishna. However, Satrajeet distrusts Krishna, hiding the gem with his brother, Prasan. When Prasan is killed by Jarasandha’s spy, who is then slain by Jambavan, Krishna retrieves the gem from Jambavan after defeating him. Later, during Krishna and Satyabhama's wedding, Satyabhama and Akrur kill Satrajeet to seize the gem but are ultimately defeated by Krishna.

When the thief entered, Smritikana devi saw him and instantly recognized him as Gurudas. Then the story from her previous birth unfolded.
